Gear Review | rabbit PR Collection Speedeez Singlet

by Chase Parnell — March 15, 2020

Nikki and I got our hands on a set of the new rabbit PR collection singlets called the Speedeez. They’ll cost you a pretty penny, $60 through the rabbit online shop, but if you want to feel good, look good, and set the stage for a great race experience, I’d recommend making this your 2020 racing jersey.

You aren’t going to go to an interview without a shave and you shouldn’t go to a race without a jersey. Why? It sets the tone. Is this just another casual run or are you there to do battle? In the past, I’ve raced in basic technical tee-shirts that I’d train in and I always felt a bit lazy, like really? This is all you could muster? I mean, it’s a special day! You only race a handful of times per year so it’s a great time to get dressed up for the party. I finally figured this out and really enjoyed wearing the Speedeez singlet at the L.A. Marathon and I’ll wear it at any race this year that I’m not wearing a hydration pack in. There are other options in the PR Collection to wear under a pack.

Now, to Nikki’s chagrin, I’ve never been one to pay too much attention to style. I do enough to get by but it’s not something I spend time thinking about. I don’t need compliments about my appearance to make me feel good, but I’ll admit, it was nice when I got three different compliments on my singlet on race day. Yeah, I be lookin’ fly! Ha!

Performance & Design

As far as the user-experience and functionality of the Speedeez, you might be thinking…it’s just a jersey! How technical could it be? Well, there’s more to it than you might think. First off, the best thing about the PR singlet was that I didn’t even notice it during the race. And that’s ultimately what you really want in a good racing jersey. It shouldn’t be restrictive, it shouldn’t chafe, it should never fall off your shoulder. It should just feel like it’s a part of you. And that’s exactly how it felt for me.

I love the hypnotic triangle and diamond-shaped pattern on the front and the perforated racerback panel on the back that gives the singlet a nice form-fitted feel. The Speedeez uses a proprietary blend of polyester and spandex. They say it’s their, “highest performance race singlet made to date. Laser cut with bonded seaming construction for maximum comfort and reduced weight. Made from our new ultra-light, superior mechanical wicking, fast-drying rabbitSPEED fabric.” Sounds like a well oiled machine.

rabbit the BRAND

A little about rabbit the brand. All their apparel is designed in their Santa Barbara, California headquarters and manufactured just 100 miles south in Los Angeles. In doing so, they are able to keep their carbon footprint to a minimum and provide jobs to local workers. The company was founded by women and has shown tremendous support of the sport by sponsoring elite road and trail athletes and getting involved in a variety of events in the running community. While the running apparel space is extremely competitive, we have a feeling this brand is going to be around for a long, long time.

I’d definitely recommend the Speedeez to anyone looking for a performance oriented racing singlet that not only feels great but looks good too. Well done rabbit. Nailed it.
