Free Treeline Journal Advent Calendar!

by Nikki Parnell — November 22, 2019

Every Thursday, we send out our Rise & Grind Newsletter to hundreds of lovely subscribers. Yesterday, we included in the newsletter a free two-page Treeline Journal advent calendar created by Yours Truly. I’m no professional graphic designer but I think it turned out pretty dang good! And I had a blast making it! But let’s be real, I have a blast doing ANYTHING Christmas related.

The calendar was so well received by our newsletter subscribers that we decided to put it out there for all of you to enjoy. If you want this free 8 1/2 by 11, two-page advent calendar, all you have to do is sign up for our Rise & Grind Newsletter and we’ll send you a PDF copy of the calendar directly to the email address you provide.

Now, a little bit about origins of the calendar. In an attempt to fully enjoy the holiday season, while also trying to sprinkle a little happiness around our world, I came up with an advent calendar last year filled with activities to do with my then 3-year-old son (and 8 month old daughter, but you know, she didn’t do much at that time). The daily activities were a mix of fun family traditions and small acts of kindness. To say the least, we had a HOOT running around together, going on secret missions, taking time to intentionally bond with each other, and my son really was thrilled to know he had the power to help make the world a little better than how we found it each day. I made another one this year, mostly geared towards families with small-ish children (but really any age and family size can dig into this and have fun).

So, if you’re looking for an entertaining, life-giving, family-oriented advent calendar, check out this free downloadable one that I made for my family’s holiday endeavors! It’s the perfect time of year to encourage empathy in our children, the magic gift of giving, and building wholesome traditions to look forward to each year with the people we love the most.

**Disclaimer: often, as a mother of two, I can be haggard and living in survival mode. But when the holidays hit, somehow I transform into Buddy the Elf and start saying things like, “First we’ll make snow angels for two hours, then we’ll go ice-skating, then we’ll eat a whole roll of Toll-House cookie dough as fast as we can, and then we’ll snuggle.” Now, I know that the holidays are a jam packed, hustling, bustling, frenzied time of year. And not everyone has Buddy the Elf levels of energy and in all honesty, I wasn’t working at all last Christmas, a full-time stay at home mom, so we had the opportunities and time to tackle all kinds of activities. Many of these activities are simple, but others take more time and effort. This year we most likely won’t get to every single activity. What I’m getting at is: this advent calendar is not in any way meant to hinder the fun or add stress and to-do lists to your precious days. It is merely a set of prompts to try new things, spread joy, and instill the love of Christmas time into your family/ kids/ friends/ neighbors/ strangers around you! Feel free to cross out, tear up, or change entirely any activities that don’t fit into your schedule or budget or interests!
