[Video] Shoulder Season South Sister Run FAIL.

by Chase Parnell – September 22, 2019

Despite a jacked up knee, I decided to head up the local hill, South Sister, near our hometown Bend, Oregon and have a go of it. I’ve run this one a bunch of times, typically at least once a year, but I still always love it. The trail can be crowded but on a bad weather day like today, there were only a handful of people.

I ended up having to turn around early because I was honestly just way under-dressed given the conditions. I didn’t anticipate the wind and with my knee acting up, I pulled the plug before reaching the summit. No worries though, it was still a blast and I’m really enjoying capturing these moments on film and hope to keep improving! Hope you enjoy.

  1. Hey Chase, I heard about this huge, brave adventure you and Nikki are on, and have tried to stay caught up with your postings. I am still trying to figure out the point of this website, but must admit, being a senior non -runner, I nonetheless enjoy living variously through those who find joy in this crazy ultra running life! How do you run through a bum knee, unpredictable weather, complete exhaustion? Over and over again? I see this is a reawakening for you as you saw the dark road ahead, and I applaud you for that. Obviously, changes needed to be made and you and Nikki had the courage to make that happen. I wish you the best of luck in making this work for you both. I will continue to follow you and hope this life change gives you the joy you deserve! Kim

    1. Thanks Kim! I think we too are also trying to figure out what this website is going to be about. Is it going to be a resource for ultra runners? Be a blog about life/family/adventure? Not sure, we are going to see what works and what resonates with people and let it form over time. We appreciate you following along. We are committing to a different way of life and we are going to see where that takes us. Hope all is well with you and yours!
